That will not be happening on this occasion, however, after the hosts' dominant victory by 82 runs in Adelaide put the hosts leading three-nil for the fourth successive Ashes series on Australian grounds.

England's famous supporters' group, the vocal contingent, have thousands of supporters making the journey for the concluding fixtures in Sydney and Melbourne.

Furthermore, other tour groups who will spend the Christmas period in Australia, as well as loved ones embarking on a special expedition.

Fans with Booked Tickets

A group of four supporters are a prime example.

The group had their travel arrangements and match passes arranged for the fourth and fifth Tests "well ahead of time", hoping to witness a rare England series success.

Sadly, they've observed Australia outplay the visitors in just 11 days from their house in their hometown.

"All my colleagues has been making comments regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"We always thought that we would have something to play for by the time we arrived."

Diminishing Hope

Optimism was high regarding the team's prospects of breaking a 15-year drought for a series win in Australia before it began.

But they are now facing the prospect of continuing a barren spell in the country to 19 matches when the Boxing Day Test begins in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.

The England team - and their supporters - will be keen to prevent a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

One sibling noted the "entertainment" of head coach the positive style of play in recent years had "reinvigorated" the longest format for English supporters.

Yet the fans said they had minimal hopes for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are asking for from the players is "a bit of fight".

"All analysts alludes to it, but it all comes down to fortitude. 'This style has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, unrealistic play," stated Rory Ryding.

"In a five-day Test match, you should apply yourself. Wafting outside 'wide of off stump has never been in the fundamentals, and that is mainly the fault the frontline batsmen."

The Remaining Matches

Asked whether he believed England will triumph in a Test in the current series, came the reply: "The evidence suggests the hosts are a stronger side currently."

"Necessarily, there must be more than one player that stands up for England and produces a match-winning display."

Regardless of the result, the fans are excited about the trip.

"We are going to have a fantastic experience nonetheless," added another sibling. "We have to go with that attitude."

"Obviously it is unfortunate we can't contest the series, but we have spent so much money as it is."

"We'll enjoy spending the festive season out there. This will be our first experience traveling during the festive period."

A teacher, Katie is focused on enjoying the lengthy journey as part of her seasonal break.

"As a backup plan, I can play golf to rely on," she added.
