Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for doubts to be raised about his future after a further heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the team's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with results so bad.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to the top, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
